Education

Over the years, we have faced a multitude of issues but undeterred,

we have devised several solutions that help us continue sharing the gift of education with underprivileged children and people.

Here, take a look.

Our Approach Was Two Way Round, We Educated Children Which Are The Future Of Tomorrow But Also The Elders Who Need Education In Day Today Life.

DGVS’s focus is on the developmental and behavioural well-being of children from birth to 21 years. The child and family are the centre of our work. Therefore, utmost importance is given to ensuring that families feel empowered to help their children. DGVS’s work is not rocket science! Training others – anyone who cares for children – about various facets of child development is a crucial objective that is pursued with passion. Through the sharing of knowledge and skills, we can reach out to so many more children.

“Siksha Ki Raah” is a national level programme of DGVS, an NGO committed to provide basic education, shelter, food and healthcare to the unprivileged section of the society. DGVS addresses children’s critical needs by working with parents, teachers, Anganwadi workers, communities, district and state level governments as well as the children themselves.

We focus on changing behaviours and practices at the grassroots level and influencing public policy at a systemic level – thereby creating an ecosystem where children are made the nation’s priority. DGVS is committed to poor child education

believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there’s no better place to start than in the corridors of education. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life; means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one’s rights, and in the process, evolve as a better citizen. It is DGVS’s action on education which works for education for the underprivileged children who are under difficult circumstances, such as child labour, children of poorest of the parents, children inflicted and affected with HIV/AIDS, street and runaway children, children with rare disabilities, disaster struck children and slum children. Special emphasis is given on girl education and women education, so that they and their families get empowered.

Since its inception in 1986, more than 1,00,000 underprivileged children have directly benefitted from the Mission Siksha Ki Raah.

SOLUTION IMPLEMENTED

What is important is to come up with a solution that takes care of the children in:

When we work together, we can benefit the lives of even more elders and empower them with a quality education. Through workshops and various activities, awareness is generated amongst people and local communities about the importance of education. DGVS also conducts regular counselling sessions to encourage people to study. DGVS’s  intensive ICT enabled literacy and numeracy programme enabling illiterate people to read, write and do simple arithmetic, using advanced learning and memory techniques. Within 56 days of highly instructive and entertaining 2-hour classes held locally in the village, the learner acquires sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to be able to read simple books, write letters, verify her shopping and banking transactions and go on to learn highly valuable job-related skills. Saving some two years and huge costs, which other teaching programs require, is demonstrably able to position its graduates to become vocal members of their families and effective leaders in their communities.
